I don't want to talk about AI
I don’t WANT to fucking talk about AI!
But the talentless monopolistic pieces of shit who run everything are shoving it down our goddam throats. Could there have been meaningful solutions to real problems with AI, especially in the hands of experts in control of the data and outputs? Probably! It’s an interesting technology! But that’s not what these fucking losers have come up with!
Software I used to enjoy has become complete and utter dogshit. Yes, everything run by big companies turns to shit over time as they test the limits of what they can get away with to degrade our lives and make more money. But this bullshit has accelerated it!
Small businesses in my area sometimes use generative AI for their promotional material and it is so obvious and soulless and it drives me up the fucking wall. Some of them should know better, but others have no idea since they’re the victim of extreme propaganda for it and it’s becoming hard NOT to use these dogshit features. I am significantly disinclined to engage with you or your business if you use this shit!
I know there are plenty of software engineers frustrated with this industry trend and want to get back to solving real problems. Shoutout to all of you.
But there are clearly plenty others drooling at the mouth for a new and obvious opportunity to bootlick the dipshit executives obsessed with this garbage and want to climb that corporate ladder that rewards being a fucking lapdog. Real people are out there pushing this shitty software without any regard to the quality of the output and are forcing us all to live with the consequences. Do they even use the software they build? It’s hard to find software I enjoy using these days (except bear blog, thank you bear blog)! Maybe this is the opportunity I needed to touch grass after all!
Build something fucking good and useful for once in your fucking lives!
Extra note: This is quite the departure in tone from my previous blog posts. I’m fucking fed up! Oh, by the way, yes everything in the real world (on a local and national and global scale) fucking sucks and is miserable and I have nothing to add to the conversation at the moment except everything is fucking awful and depressing and I want justice. Can’t even find solace on my old friend The Computer anymore.
